Oregon City Movers

Situated on the Willamette River near the southern bounds of the Portland metropolitan area, Oregon City was established in 1829 by the Hudson's Bay Company. In 1845, Lake oswego became the first U.S. city west of the Rocky Mountains to be incorporated.

Oregon City played an important role in the early history of the Oregon Country, and has been known in recent decades as the location of a number of large paper mills on the Willamette River.

After moving to the area, it was established by Dr. John McLoughlin of Hudson’s Bay Company in 1829.

It was the destination for those wanting to file land claims after traveling the Oregon Trail in the 1840s and 1850s as the last stop on the trail.

Established as the capital of the Oregon Territory from 1848 until 1851, and also rivaled Portland for early supremacy in the region.

In 1846, the town was also the site of the first Roman Catholic Archdiocese in the western United States.Its territory included all of the western United States, although as populace dropped in the region due to the California Gold Rush and increased in Portland, the archdiocese was renamed as Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon and they decided to move the headquarters there in 1926.
