Donating Furniture in Portland OR [2023] | Portland Furniture Donation Pick Up and 🪑 How to Donate in Dallas

Whether you recently moved, you’re redesigning, or just want to give back to the community, furniture donation in Portland may be something to consider. The thing is, furniture is big and heavy unlike clothes and smaller items. Perhaps you want to redecorate your place but your old furniture is in the way. Instead of asking your friends and neighbors to help lift the furniture into the dump or set it on the curb for the garbage man to dispose of, there’s something you can do that leaves everyone happy. Donating furniture benefits you as well as many other people!

There are several reasons why you may want to donate furniture. If providing charity to those in need is where your heart is, then donating your furniture to a potential family may be a good reason. Or perhaps you don’t want to handle all the heavy lifting and back pains on your own. Whatever your motivation is, a charity will come and pick up your bulky furniture which saves you the time and stress of doing it yourself. And that’s not to mention how you can use furniture donation in Portland as a tax write-off! Ensure your furniture is in good condition, take a slip from the charity of choice, and file it with your taxes. When you fill out your tax-write-offs, make sure you’re submitting fair market value– how much you believe a person would currently pay for the item you’re donating. More information about this is here on the IRS website.

Please keep in mind that PDX Movers does not assist with your furniture donation and subsequent pickup. But we have made this list of charities and organizations that do! If you are donating furniture as a result of a pending relocation, we are here to assist with your move. 🙏

Since not all charities accept large furniture and some do not have any furniture at all, how do you know which ones will pick up your items and which ones will take in oversized furniture? Our ultimate guide for Portland furniture donation will show you the top-rated furniture charities to choose from.

After being in business for over 100 years, the well-known organization of Salvation Army works to help those struggling with addiction as well as using their donation to support those in need. Their donations aid the homeless and their funds go towards programs like therapy, rehab, and so on. There are some items they can’t accept such as built-in appliances, automobile parts, televisions older than 5 five years, and more. If your item isn’t bulky like a bed or a couch, you’ll have to take the item to one of their drop-off locations such as in the nearby community of Clackamas.
